It is narrated that Abu Yazid al-Tayfur ibn Isa al-Bistami (may God have mercy on him), the sultan of the wise, the proof of the monotheists, the treasure of the worshippers, remembered the Sheikh repeatedly, visualized him, desired him, and preferred him over himself a hundred years before his blessed death. The Sheikh, in the beginning of his heart's desire, would visit Bayezid's tomb after performing the night prayer for twelve years. He would then return and wait in the lodge until the morning prayer. Some say this state lasted eighteen years. At the end of this period, a voice came from the tomb, "Who is sitting?"

[The Sheikh said:] “Be kind to me, I am an illiterate, I have not learned the Sharia, and I do not know the Quran.”
The voice said, "They gave us what they gave us through your blessing. When I entered a town, I saw a light rising and reaching towards the sky. I have had a need for thirty years. I heard a voice saying, 'Make that light my intercessor!' I asked, 'What is it?' I was told, 'It is the light of the deeds of a servant whom we will bring into being, named Abu al-Hasan.' I asked for my need, and my purpose was fulfilled. Then I recited the Quran for twenty-seven days. Whenever I encountered a matter [I did not know], he would bring a scholar from the Shafi'i school to teach me. By the truth of Abu al-Hasan, he did not leave me indebted for what he gave me of his knowledge."

It is narrated that Ahmed Hadim-i Saram said: The Shaykh said, "Today, I have been in a period of forty years; God has looked into my heart and seen nothing but Himself. There is nothing but God in me, and there is no place in my heart for anything but Him."

He also says: Master Imam Abu'l-Qasim Qushayri had no other longing than these two: He would always say, "I could not visit Abu'l-Hasan in Harakan and Abu Ja'far Abhari in Hamedan."

It is narrated that while he was the vizier of Baghdad, Adududevle was afflicted with a stomachache. They gathered all the doctors, [but] they were all powerless. [The vizier's stomachache] did not heal until the Sheikh pressed his clogs against his stomach.
